New York sinks into celebrations on second time triumph of New York Giants – NFL News
The American city of New York has sunk into celebrations on the second time triumph of their team, the New York Giants, in last four years by beating the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl championship twice, in 2008 and now in 2012.
Locals who had been watching the game on big screens in the big halls and in the pubs spilt out on the streets and centralised gathering places, going wild and shouting slogans and yelling at the passer bys.
Security personnel remained alert to tackle the possibility of any untoward incidents and tried to keep crowds restricted to places where public was less likely to go around.
A smaller scale scuffles were reported from few places with the situation remaining in control by and large.
Young fans were especially seen yelling slogans in favour of their team for many hours since confirmation of the victory of their team and added to overall an environment of festivity and celebrations.
“This is the place to be after a big Giants win, man, and we're going to win again next year too," said a 19-year old college student, Lewis Stanton.
"Eli Manning is the greatest fourth-quarter comeback quarterback ever," said Andrew West, a Manhattan resident. "Overall, it was a great game for both teams, but the Giants sort of pulled it out."
This is one of the rare feasts for the city, who had earlier lost on the chances of their other team, the New York Jets, reaching the playoff round and beyond.
This was for the second time that the Giants have won the Super Bowl championship and that too against their old rivals, the New England Patriots.
Patriots had lost the championship in 2008 and had come to the Indianapolis with an aim of revenging their past defeat. They have been toppled again by Giants, instead.
"It seems like every time people count them out, the Giants come through and prove everyone wrong," a 23-year old fan, Keith Panzarella from Queens said. "They are the best when their backs are against the wall."
Giants’ victory was equally well celebrated in other parts of the country and the spectators of the game included the US president, Barack Obama, who despite being disappointed to see his team, Chicago Bears, not playing the championship, watched part of
the game.
The Indianapolis also cheered the victory of Giants in and outside the stadium. They were especially more supportive to their quarterback, Eli Manning, the younger brother of Colts quarterback, Peyton Manning.
More celebrations are expected in more traditional way in the coming days. Again, Eli Manning, who has been named the Most Valuable Players (MVP) for the second time is going to be star of the show and centre of all the celebrations.
