Question

Whats the best/safest way to commute from 42nd street (port authority) to 86th street (east side)?

i wasthinkin of takin the subway at port authority (C) to 86th street and then takin a bus to take me from west central park to east.

Yet someone told me it is best to take A or sumthing,

Take the Shuttle to Grand Central at Grand Central take the Bronx bound 6 train to 86th Street.

or you can take the 4 express to 86

Queens-bound E train to Lexington Avenue.  Transfer to an uptown-bound 6.

OR, you can get the 7 or the S to Grand Central.  There, you can get the 4/5/6 (any one works, the 4/5 run express and will get there faster).

Either way, it's a pretty fast run, and safe.

The A/C don't do you any good; how do you get to the east side?  You have to walk through Central Park; that takes extra time.  Furthermore, you'll get one heck of a surprise when the A stops at 59th and then doesn't stop again until 125th because it's express!!
