India A kicked off their ongoing tour of New Zealand with a 3-wicket win over New Zealand A in the 1st game of the unofficial 3-match ODI series, played at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bert-Sutcliffe-c47851 Oval in Lincoln today on September 19.
India A won the toss and elected to field first, launching a fierce bowling attack which ensured that the opponents’ score did not grow into too daunting a target, with Jaydev Unadkat (10-0-44-4), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bhuvneshwar-Kumar-c48045 (10-1-39-2)
leading the pack.
With the exception of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349 (5), and Tom Latham (1) all chipped in with meagre contributions. By the 16th
over, New Zealand A were at 51 for 5.
Coming in at number 6, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Ellis-c1037 (45) who managed to steady the innings somewhat, setting up an 80-run stand which
came to an end with the dismissal of the skipper via run out in the 40th over.
By this point, the team had reached 134 for 7, and de Boorder went on to team up with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Wagner-c79182 (9) for a 36-run partnership, which got their team up to 170. Both batsmen were dismissed by Unadkat in the 47th over, and minor contributions from
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-McClenaghan-c1975 (1) got the team up to a final score of 176, all out, by the 49th over.
Chasing 177, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s innings were similarly mediocre, with no stand-out performances from any of the batsmen. However, a string of double-digit contributions kept the team going, enabling them to reach 180 by the 48th over, despite the efforts
of McClenaghan (10-0-42-3).
India A skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abhinav-Mukund-c41758 (20) and Unmukt Chand (32) set up a steady 52-run stand, which came to an end with the departure of the skipper at the hands of McClenaghan in the 15th over, followed by Chand’s dismissal in the very next over off

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ambati-Rayudu-c1007 (26*), which got the team total up to 116 by the 34th over.
Mandeep was run out, but Rayudu went on to establish a 40-run stand with Rahul Sharma (31) – their combined efforts propelled the team to 169, and despite Sharma’s departure off de Grandhomme, Rayudu persevered, and led the side home with the aid of B Kumar
(6*), getting the India A team up to 180 with 3 wickets and 16 deliveries still remaining. The victory granted the visiting team a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.
