New Zealand All Blacks aiming for 14-game sweep
The New Zealand All Blacks have solidified their place as the best rugby team in the world in 2010, winning all nine of their international Tests thus far this year. But that isn’t enough for captain Richie
McCaw, who says he want to go a perfect 14-0 this year.
The team is has five Tests up head, four of them against the Home Nations, and one against their fierce rivals, the Australia Wallabies, all in five weekends.
"Five Tests in five weekends is tough, there's no doubt about it," McCaw told Sportal.com. "It would be great at the start of December to have gone unbeaten for the year."
The All Blacks have been fearsome this year, going an unprecedented 6-0 in the Tri Nations tournament, including three victories against the Qantas Wallabies and another three against the defending World
Cup champions, the South Africa Springboks. They have also knocked off Wales twice and beat Ireland as well.
Despite their victories, McCaw says his team isn’t taking anything for granted, and will need to keep improving their game in order to defeat all comers.
"We've done a lot of good things in the middle part of the year, but teams will work out ways of stopping us so you've got to keep innovating and sometimes they are not big changes, they are subtle changes
or just different ways of doing things."
It’s quite possible the All Blacks can pull if off, to, as the Australians and South Africans are considered the next two best teams in the league, and neither was able to record a win in a combined six attempts.
"The big thing that served us well is we decided how we were going to play, we got good results because we executed it pretty well with everyone on the same page. If we change things, we have got to know
that everyone knows what is going on, so we can go out and execute it under pressure."
