New Zealand Badminton Open: R. M. V. Gurusaidutt outplays Chance Cheng in Men’s Singles first round
India’s talented player R. M. V. Gurusaidutt started his campaign in a dominating fashion as he easily outplayed his local challenger Chance Cheng in Men’s Singles first round of SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open 2013 on Wednesday, April 10, in New Zealand.
The in-form Gurusaidutt, who is the fourth seeded shuttler in Men’s Singles main draw of the championship, showed his elevated craft on court and remained successful in crushing his lower ranked challenger in a lop-sided manner.
Indian player was in complete command of rallies as he played positive badminton from all areas of the court and registered a comprehensive victory on his un-seeded opponent with a dominating 21-15 and 21-7 score on the board.
Meanwhile, the lower ranked Cheng played fast and positive badminton but he could not continue his winning run and started to commit mistakes. He failed to keep up with the pace of rallies and lost the match without posing any threat to his Indian challenger.
Gurusaidutt performed remarkably well from the opening rallies of first game as he played with incredible speed and grabbed the control.
The impressive Gurusaidutt was quite comfortable in taking the bird early and he did not encounter any problem in hitting his strokes in right areas.
The higher ranked Gurusaidutt advanced with a terrific speed in the first half and stayed ahead on score board until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Gurusaidutt stayed focused on court and remained successful in maintaining a comfortable gap.
Gurusaidutt remained consistent in executing powerful shots in targeted areas and eventually bagged the opening game with a comfortable 21-15 margin on the score board.
Cheng was once again in problem in the following set as he faced a hostile treatment from his challenger who was at his best on court.
Indian player displayed his unparalleled skills on court by picking the bird early from all areas and kept his domination over his challenger.
The in-form Gurusaidutt continued putting up staggering show in the ending part of second game and remained successful in securing the game with a superb 21-7 total on score board.
