Ok: I'm an american student who isn't going to reach college time any where soon (8th grade). But my dream is to go live in New Zealand after I graduate 12th grade, but that would be in May, so I would go to college in the middle of the year, right?

Can anyone give any suggestions or tips to somebody who would like to attend college in NZ?Or, live there in general?

For example, apartments, jobs, etc.

P.S. I want to live in Auckland.

  1. I live in Christchurch, NZ. I have just got back from my first time visting Auckland. I know quite a bit about it. If you do go to Auckland you should go to Auckland Grammar. It is quite flash, but really good.

  2. I live in NZ and over here a "college" is a high school, where as a "college" in the USA would be like a "polytechnic" or "technology institute" over here. It's kind of comfusing I suppose.

There's a University in Auckland that has near by apartments that you could rent and i'm pretty sure that it has accomodation specifically for students. Auckland City has lots of apartments for rent/sale, and there are often more being built so i doubt that you'd lack anywhere to live. There's also "Unitec" and "Manukau Institute of Technology" that offer a wide range of courses. Usually universities and technology institutes take on new students in two different times of the year...February and July, but for some courses they make exceptions.

If you want to, google search apartments in auckland city. Even though you wont be moving here anytime soon it'll give you an idea of the area.

  3. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you might want to check out immigration new zealand web site if anything that will be the challenge to get through first. You more than likely will be paying over the top international student fees. May also pay to find out the average processing times for visa depending on how long you intend to stay in new zealand

  4. hi just some handy tips

college in NZ is what americans call high school

we call it years not grades

    here is a handy chart

    http://english.unitecnology.ac.nz/resour...

    year 1-6 is primary school

    year 7-8 is intermediate school

    year 9-13 is college

after college comes university (what Americans call college)

nz is an awesome place to live
