Hi. I have a report on Gold Rush. I'm doing New Zealand and I really need help!!!!!

  1. There are several areas in which there was gold rushes at different times eg I think the Otago one was the first one ( Garbriels Gully from memory)..lots of chinese went there too!

    Coming from Marlborough we were always taught about the one near canvastown in the wakamarina river ( named for the high numbers of tents from gold miners.....I remember singing this awful song about it at a choir evening ( on the banks of the wakamarina, a journey from Nelson about ?0 miles....a splendid gold field has been discovered....blah blah..) apparently it was sung like a jingle to get people to go there, giving information about the place etc....early advertising.

    I also remember visting a place in Thames ( where they drilled into the rock to make tunnels unlike the other previous places that had river mining)

    I have a feeling there might have been one on the west coast as well...not sure
