New Zealand- STOP BAGGING IT?

Question

I watched the news this evening and some immigrants said they found nz racist and a bad place to live! Other people say New Zealand is violent and crime ridden.

I really don't get people. New Zealand has a low crime rate, I never have had any problems here, the only one's I hear of are on the news. I'm over people saying nz is backwards and our children are rude.

I'm just sick of people bagging our little country. Who else is with me?

I've only thought of NZ maybe a couple of times while using a can of Kiwi shoe polish. Other than that, what goes on down under stays down under.

crime has sky rocketed in NZ over the last 20 years, we have nut cases running around in the bush with guns talking revolution, we have gang issues,

NZ is backwards thats just a fact, when we have kids shooting people at school or a PM that is a total idiot like the american one then we will have caught up - lets stay backwards

I'm with you! I used to live there for nearly four years, and I had no problems at all there. I wonder how they got that idea anyway.. People are so nice there. It would be very unlikely for crimes to happen, just small petty ones, I guess.

I live in LONDON UK and crime is rife here. I suppose you get it everywhere, but must say, If I lived in Iraq I`d feel safer! Gangs of youths roaming the streets at night, burglaries in broad daylight, 15 kids shot in the space of 7 months. Not everywhere is that bad addmittedly, but still, I wish I lived somewhere nicer...Like New Zealand. Can I emigrate? Never hear anything bad in the news about there. Want to swap??? lol

i thought new zealanders were known for being pansies and handymen... nuthin against being a pansy... i just had a nz roomie in the states and he agreed that nzers are not assertive enuf.   stop crying pansy

hm, I can't speak for other countries, and I'm not from Nz, but I'm Aussie. It's true that we bag you alot, and sheep jokes run amok....but as far as we can tell, we do this in good spirit of our neighbours! the rude children thing is probably because of shows like ....hmmm ...forgot the name, but it's about native nz kids who were gangsta and stuff...but in the same way, we abuse the US for their sterotypical self centredness.  btw, I don't any people think your backward, and whoever lied to you about that probably doesn't know too much about the world

I never put New Zealand in a bag. People talk a lot of **** and newspapers have to find "news". I am from SAfrica, I can tell you NZealand crime would probably resemble the naughty cub scouts compared to ours. Perhaps they see films like "Once were Warriors" and stereotype the whole country...... Do you ride whales?

im with you, sure there is crime, but NZ has to be one of the most peaceful countries on the plabet and more than anywhere in the world i wud rather be bringing my kids up there
