New Zealand Warriors are focused after coach is finalised for National Rugby League 2012
It has been verified by Simon Mannering, captain of the New Zealand Warriors, that the news of the appointment of the Warriors’ coach, Brian McClennan, for the upcoming seasons will not deviate the players from losing their focus during the ongoing National
Rugby League (NRL) season.
The announcement of McClennan taking over as the head coach and replacing Ivan Cleary for the NRL competition since 2012 was made on August 1.
McClennan moved to NewZealand almost one and a half years ago after he stood down from the responsibility of a Super League franchise. His profile is studded with many accomplishments and this is going to be his first experience with the Australian NRL competition.
He is currently holding the office of the Auckland Rugby League as their Football Development Manager. This June he also swept the Exiles under his coaching to a victory against the English squad.
Warriors are sitting on the sixth spot within the NRL ladder with twenty six points, which makes them two places ahead in the NRL hierarchy from the Newcastle Knights and the Wests Tigers. On the other hand, Brisbane Broncos, who are further two spots ahead
of the Warriors, will meet them in their Saturday’s clash, which is the pivot of attention of the competing outfits.
Warriors have already won the previous four matches and are hoping to sustain their wining strike in the next lined up encounter against the Broncos.
While commenting on this latest development in the Kiwi squad, the Warrior’s skipper stated, “Everyone knows who's going to be here next year, so it's security for the club and for the players. But that's next year, so we're not really worried about it as
yet. We're just worried about doing the job this year.”
Mannering had made his debut for New Zealand, as a 20- year-old in 2006, under McClennan, as the head coach of New Zealand during the Tri-Nations Series 2006.
Mannering mentioned that he is grateful of his future coach, who bestowed him with an opportunity to make into the New Zealand team. It was further confirmed by him that although he did not play for him more than a year, nonetheless he acknowledges the fact
that he really puts in a lot to figure out the individual playing style of each player on board.
Mannering reckons that McClennan’s distinguished style will work for the New Zealanders but for the moment the focus of the entire kiwi outfit is entirely channelled on acing their games in the remainder of this season’s NRL.
