New Zealand has named a 15-man squad for the side’s ODI trip to South Africa, largely retaining players from the group which featured in the recently concluded T20I series.
The selectors have shown consistency in their selection which sees eleven players holding onto their places from the T20 bouts, with BJ Watling, Adam Milne, Kyle Mills and Kane Williamson joining them.
There was no place for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Doug-Bracewell-c1394, the fast bowler, as the management looks to monitor his workload. Bracewell played in all the three matches of the tour so far, and is most certain to feature for the Test side, when they take on the Proteas from January
2.
"[It] is in-line with our policy to sensibly manage player workloads," Kiwi Head Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mike-J-Hesson-c76286 explained. "He has a big role to play in the Test series against South Africa and will benefit from the opportunity to freshen up ahead of the home series
[in February-March] against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013."
The other players in line to make their ODI debuts include all-rounders Jimmy Neesham and Corey Anderson, batsman, Colin Munro, and fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TG-Southee-c2659.
All mentioned players were handed their maiden appearances in the T20 arena, and the national selection manager, Kim Littlejohn, is hoping that their retention will prove healthy for the future of Kiwi cricket.
"We're keen to show consistency in selection for our short-form side and retain the nucleus of the squad who competed in the T20 series, along with four players from the last ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
"…we are working on developing a larger group of players who can compete at international level."
The Black Caps will battle South Africa in three ODIs, with the first one taking place on the 19th
of next month. As expected, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384 and Southee will miss the bouts due to personal and injury reasons.
