New Zealand have named their squad for upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. Both teams will play one Test, two Twenty20s and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) in October-November.
The squad for the limited-over format is: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Watling-c1172, Kane Williamson,
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Woodcock-c1860.
There will be a few changes in the Test squad, which is: Ross Taylor (captain), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KS-Williamson-c1813,
BJ Watling, and Reece Young.
This will be the first series for Ross as skipper of the Kiwi team. He will take over from Vettori, who stepped down from the job after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011.
Zimbabwe have been performing well on home soil under the captaincy of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 earlier this year.
However, the African team failed to win a single match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 despite performing consistently well in all three formats of the game.
Although New Zealand will start as favourites in the series, the team will have to be cautious against the spirited opposition.
Ross will be looking forward to start his stint as captain in a positive manner. He will be leading a young side and will be looking forward to lead from the front.
The series will also provide a good chance to a couple of youngsters, who have been selected in the Kiwi squad.
According to the New Zealand coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Geoffrey-Wright-c67883, “Bracewell did very well at the Emerging Player Tournament so that led to his selection in both tour parties. Like Bracewell, Brownlie had a good EPT and strong domestic form so has earned his place.”
The Black Caps managed to reach the Semi-Final of the World Cup despite being the least favourite team to do so. This would have boosted the confidence in the camp and the team will be aiming for a new beginning under new leadership.
