New Zealand batsmen to watch out for in fourth ODI, Ross Taylor
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, who is already down 2-0 in the current series against Bangladesh, will be looking to consolidate in the fourth One Day International (ODI). Their batsmen have struggled against Bangladesh’s spin bowlers. So the batting line has to come up with
a solid plan against their opponents.
We will be discussing in-form Kiwi batsmen, who can make an impact in the next ODI.
Ross Taylor
Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 has emerged as the best batsman in the New Zealand side. In addition, he is attacking by nature and takes the opposition’s bowling attack to the cleaners at will.  As a middle order batsman, Taylor stands as a backbone, supporting the batting
line-up of his team to a greater extent as others do. In doing so, he threatens to take the game away from the opposition very early in the innings.
Furthermore, Ross is an on-side player, and therefore he is strong off his legs as he whips every ball through the leg side, which is pitched in his zone of attack. In addition, his slog sweep towards the midwicket boundary is his trademark short. Currently,
he is having a reasonably good series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
In the first ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand, he posed a threat to change the game in a chase of 229 runs, but the spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naeem-c78451 ul Islam brought about his demise, which further dented New Zealand’s hopes of chasing down their target.
Moreover, he struck a 56 ball 42, which includes a boundary and a six. At first, he has to play according to the situation as they were chasing a good total under helpful bowling conditions and wickets were crumbling around him. As he has the tendency to
shuffle across the stumps, he did the same thing as he got out leg before wicket on a straight delivery.
The 3rd ODI, wasn’t a better game for his team, but it prove to be a good one for Taylor. His teammates struggled against the spinners and the turning ball. But Taylor was comfortable against spin from the very first ball he faced. At first, he
started to milk the spinners and then smashed some crucial boundaries to lift the final total to 173. His unbeaten 62 runs comprised of three boundaries and 4 towering sixes.
New Zealand will be banking on their premier batsman to perform. In doing so, Taylor can easily spoil Bangladesh’s party.
Jessie Ryder
He is a hard-hitting batsman, well capable of hitting the ball out of the cricket ground. Add to this, any ball pitched in his zone, and then it is goodbye ball. Injuries and other disciplinary issues have sidelined him otherwise he is an integral part of
the Kiwi outfit.
He emerged on the scene in only his 2nd ODI, a match against England in Hamilton. Ryder hammered the English attack all around the park, scoring 79 runs of just 62 balls. His burst included seven boundaries and 2 huge sixes.
He has performed well in all forms of the game, especially in ODIs. Overall, he has featured in 23 matches, amassing 691 runs at an average of almost 35 with a single century. Add to this, his average of 35 is backed up by an excellent strike rate of almost
93.
In the ongoing series in Bangladesh, the aggressive left hander is yet to contribute with a big score. Although, he has shown signs of good form, lady luck has not been on his side so far. In the first ODI, he scored 20 runs off 21 balls, until his strong
pull shot was beautifully caught by a diving Raqibul on short midwicket.
Furthermore, Ryder again looked good as he hit 33 off 42 balls, until he scooped one into the air and was caught on the boundary. Again he showed glimpses of being himself, but this time fortune did not favour the brave.
The attacking left hander needs a little bit of luck on his side. If this time around, in the next ODI against Bangladesh, his fortune favours his attacking instincts, then his opponents will be covering for shelter.
