New Zealand bites the dust
India defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-White-c41360 wash in Chennai. This is the second time that the Indian cricket team has registered a white wash in a five one day international series.
The kiwi fans expected a good solid performance from their side but they were disappointed as the Kiwis were humiliated by the home side in what was probably the visitors' worst display in recent times. They managed to score a miserable 103 runs in their
last match against the in-form Indian side, which is their lowest score against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and the second lowest on the Indian soil.
The Kiwi skipper won the toss and decided to bat first as he was looking to exploit the early conditions that were favorable for batting. The decision was a wise one but the opportunity was not utilized by the batsmen and they let their captain down. Indian
spinners bowled with a lot of presence of mind and kept on varying their lengths. The strategy paid off really well and the spinners ended up sharing 7 wickets between them.
The only batsmen who managed to reach into their twenty’s were Jamie How and Scott Styris. Both these batsmen defended well but were eventually unable to handle the Indian spin wizards. The wickets kept on falling and the tail collapsed like a pack of cards.
The pick of the bowlers for India was the right handed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravichandran-Ashwin-c84208 who ended up with figures of 3-24 in eight overs.
After a low score the Kiwis were hoping to pull a miracle at Chennai. They decided to play their cards from the beginning as Nathan McCullum stepped up to start the proceedings for the Kiwis. The move turned out to be a smart one as it paid off in the very
first over when the Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 lost his wicket on the third delivery of the first over.
New Zealand had another surprise up their sleeves and amazed everyone when their skipper Daniel Vettori bowled the second over. He also got lucky and claimed the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424 in the fourth over. That was all the luck for the bowlers of New Zealand
though as the rest of the innings was dominated by the duo of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parthiv-Patel-c2159 and Yuvraj Singh. The pair batted with confidence and with out any hiccups. The runs just kept on flowing from their bats and they made the chase look very easy.
Parthiv Patel scored an unbeaten 56 while Yuvraj Singh scored 42 runs as duo shared a partnership of 97 runs and made sure that India won the match with out any trouble. The home side achieved the target in the 22nd over.
The series was heavily dominated by the home side and the Indian batsmen managed to score four centuries during the series. New Zealand on the other hand was unable to record a single century.
Yuvraj Singh was declared the man of the match due to his performance with both bat and ball.
Gautam Gambhir the Indian skipper was awarded man of the series award for his consistent brilliance.
