New Zealand cricket denies promising touring Pakistan
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket has said that they did not make any promises to the Pakistan Cricket Board of playing cricket in the country as had been reported earlier. Earlier, the PCB had announced to a cricket website that the NZC had offered to help the Pakistan flood victims by sending a cricket team to play a flood-relief match.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 2009, when terrorists shot at the Sri Lankan cricket team. That series was cancelled mid-way and Pakistan also lost the co-hosting rights of the World Cup, that will be played in the sub-continent next year.

However, speaking to the media, the NZC CEO, Justin Vaughan, said that there were no such promises been made by the cricket board. He acknowledged that there was a letter that was sent across to the PCB, but there had been no mention of touring Pakistan. Vaughan said that the letter that was sent to the PCB had the CEO suggesting that “cricket had to play a part” in the resurrection of the flood-affected areas, but that did not mean that the New Zealand side would play in Pakistan in the near-future.

Vaughan was categorical in saying that the New Zealand side would not play cricket in Pakistan this year.

Not only NZC, but also the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association manager Heath http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mills-c76321 agreed with this as he continued to remain wary of the security situation in the country. Mills said that there were many security issues around the player-safety that still existed and under such circumstances, it was difficult to expect the side to go to Pakistan.

Mills also said that given the floods would have ensured that the security forces would also be involved in the flood-relief work, there was an added security risk.

The PCB has also suggested that there could be a flood-relief game that may be organised in England. The Pakistan cricket team in currently in England, playing in a Test series and could be involved in that game. The board has already donated Rs 11 million to the flood victims, and the Pakistani side also contributed its entire match fee from the Test match at the Oval. The English side has also contributed a part of their match fee for the flood relief.
