Cricket Australia is very keen to have the former South African fast bowler, Allan Donald, as the new bowling coach for the national team.
Donald, who was known as ‘white-lightening’ in his playing days, is currently the bowling coach of New Zealand. He coached them during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 earlier this year.
Donald is a favourable candidate to take over the role of Australia’s bowling coach, however, New Zealand is very keen to retain him with the national team.
Director of New Zealand Cricket John Buchanan said that Donald has a lot of demand in International cricket and it’s a great thing.
Buchanan said that he is very keen to retain him with the New Zealand team but at the end of the day it depends on the South African as to what he wants.
Buchanan said, “I guess from Allan's point of view it's a nice position to be in with at least a couple of international organizations chasing his services. From his point of view, it will be about sitting down with family and seeing what's on offer before
he makes his decision. We're obviously pretty keen.''
He added that Donald has so far done a great job with the Kiwi bowlers as he did not try to indulge himself too much in the technical side. Instead he made the New Zealand bowlers mentally stronger. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s coach, John Wright, has
also praised Donald’s work with the Black Caps.
''I think he spent more time looking at the mental side of the game and tactical awareness rather than any great technical direction, but as I understand from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Wright-c69045, he was very pleased with the work he's done, and the bowlers he worked with over there
were pretty delighted with having him around,'' Buchanan added.
New Zealand cricket fans would be hoping that Donald decides to stick with the Kiwis as he is capable of turning the young bowlers into match-winners.
However, it is likely that Donald will get a better offer from Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 as compared to what he is getting from New Zealand.
