New Zealand managed a consolation 57-run win in the final game of the six-match One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766. However, the visitors had won the series before the sixth match, and the overall result of the series was 3-2
in favour of Pakistan.
Pakistan won the toss in the final match and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 were bowled-out for just 254
runs in 44.1 overs.
The hosts shuffled their batting order for the final match and promoted wicketkeeper batsman Brendon McCullum at the top of the order with Martin Guptill.
However, the experiment didn't prove to be a good one for the team, as McCullum only managed to score 12 runs off 13 balls.
The fall of the first wicket didn’t trouble Jesse Ryder, who was demoted as the first-drop. He smashed the ball to all parts of the park and put together a magnificent 123-run partnership with Guptill.
Guptill was unable to capitalise on the start he got yet again and was dismissed after scoring 44 runs off 75 balls. His wicket saw a mini collapse as New Zealand lost five wickets with the total on 190 runs.
Ryder was dismissed after scoring an exceptional century. He scored 107 runs off just 93 balls and took the game away from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. His innings included seven 4's and six massive 6's.
Veteran all-rounder Scott Stris then stabilised the innings along with Nathan McCullum. The pair took the total beyond 300 with a brilliant partnership of 120 runs.
Styris remained unbeaten on 58 off 44 balls whereas McCullum was out in the last over of the Kiwi innings. He scored his second fifty of the series, scoring 65 runs off 50 balls.
Abdul http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421 and Mohammad Hafeez were the pick of the bowlers as they took two wickets each for their team.
Hafeez gave Pakistan a quick start, scoring a cameo of 21 runs off just 15 balls before being dismissed. Ahmed Shehzad and Younis Khan also failed to score too many runs as they were dismissed for six and 16 respectively.
Wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal and Asad Shafiq put together a 74-run partnership for their team, which kept the hopes alive for the Pakistani fans. However, Asad was run-out after scoring 26 runs.
Kamran Akmal missed out on a century and was dismissed for 89 runs off 84 balls. His innings included five 4's and three 6's.
The younger Akmal, Umar wasn’t able to score runs for his team and was dismissed for eight. Razzaq followed him and was out after scoring just one run.
Afridi and Sohail Tanvir gave some hope to the team with a fifty-run stand but it wasn’t enough. Sohail was run-out after scoring 30 runs off 32 balls whereas Afridi got 44 before getting out.
Hamish Bennett was the main wicket-taker for his team as he dismissed four Pakistan batsmen. He got good support from James Franklin, who took three wickets in the match.
The overall series was a good one for Pakistan as the visitors ended up winning the Test and ODI series. The hosts started the series on a positive note, winning the Twenty20 series but failed to carry on their good form.
