Following their disappointing tour of the United States and the West Indies, which culminated in a dismal 0-2 Test whitewash at the hands of the Windies, New Zealand have dropped to number 8 on the International Cricket Council’s Test team rankings.

Their T20 series against the Windies’, played in Florida, culminated in a 0-2 defeat, and the ensuing 5-match ODI series in the Caribbean featured the visitors’ only win throughout the tour – an 88-run win in the 3rd ODI. Otherwise, the team slumped
to a 1-4 defeat in the one-days.
The final 2-match Test series offered them a chance to salvage their pride and end the series on their terms. However, the hosts continued to dominate in the extended-overs arena.
A straightforward 1st Test in Antigua, which ended in a 9-wicket win for the home team, was followed by a more closely contested 2nd match, with the Black Caps’ managing to put up a fight. The Windies’ were bowled out for 209 on the

“It has been a disappointing tour all round,” observed Kiwi skipper Taylor. “We had our chances in this match, like we had chances in a lot of the matches but winning is a habit and we were beaten by a better team at the end of the day.”
