The New Zealand captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849, on Wednesday said that they were formulating strategies to deal with West Indies left-handed batsmen, as the two outfits gear up to play a short Test series, starting in Antigua today, July 25, 2012.
Seven of West Indies’ 13-man Test squad are left-handers, including likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390, and the visiting skipper said that his bowlers just need to get used to bowling to left-handers, going into the Test series.
"We need to bowl well against their left-handers, there's a truckload in there and I'm sure we'll get some plans over the next little while," said the 28-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 born Middle order batsman, while speaking to media reporters ahead of the Test series
opener, on Wednesday.
Having already lost the T20 and ODI leg of the itinerary quite comprehensively, the Kiwis go into the opening Test looking for just their second win on the tour. They lost the two-match T20 series at Lauderhill, Florida with a 0-2 margin, before losing the
five-One Day International series 4-1.
The only victory the Black Caps have registered so far on the tour is the 88-run win in the third ODI, at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.
Besides bowling, batting also remained a cause for concern for the tourists, who played major part of the one-day leg with a depleted squad, without likes of regular skipper Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129. Whilst Taylor was sidelined after sustaining
a shoulder injury in the tour opening T20 International, McCullum was rested for the limited-overs series, following a hectic season, which saw him playing the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, followed by an IPL stint with Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, the return of the experienced duo, will be a real boost for New Zealand’s batting line-up, going into the Test series.
The New Zealand head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Geoffrey-Wright-c67883 has also expressed confidence in his batsmen to come out of the form slump and put some winnings totals on the board in the Test series, played over the next couple of weeks.
The first Test between New Zealand and West Indies will be played at North Sound, Antigua, between July 25 and 29, while the second and final Test will be hosted by Sabina Park, from August 2 to 6.
