New Zealand: new car recommendations, under 20 grand??

My mate needs a car, shes a girl, she needs something reliable, fun, safe. Any suggestions? I said the mazda 3 but i dont know how much they are there. She wants a 2006 or newer. Thanks!

For less than 20.000 NZ$, you can get a brand new Mitsubishi Colt, Nissan March/ Micra, Mitsubishi I-Car, Daihatsu Sirion, or KIA Picanto.

Of those, my recommendation, and that of Jeremy Clarkson (the British motorjournalist) is the Mitsubishi Colt.

I have a Colt myself (2007), and it's fantastic. I paid NZ$ 17.000, brand new.
