New Zealand or Hawaii for vacation?

I've been told H. is way over hyped.

When are you going?  Hawaii as good weather year round.  New Zealand get a lil chilly in there winter months.  What kind of vacation you trying to have?  If you trying to have a nice beach, relaxing holiday than Hawaii.  If you trying to look around see some sites than maybe too Hawaii.  I've been to New Zealand about 5 times.  Its a lovely country but Hawaii.  Well thats Hawaii.  Hawaii is one of the most sought after vacation destiantions in the world.

New Zealand for a winters holiday, plenty of snow and extreme sports in Queenstown.

Hawaii for a relaxing holiday.

I love Hawaii, but it's expensive and very touristy.  Where else can you walk next to molten lava?  If I wanted a tropical vacation, snorkeling and hanging out on sandy beaches, I'd go to Hawaii.

I would choose New Zealand and save Hawaii for another day.  Depending on the season, our summertime is their winter and it does snow, but Mt Hutt has some sweet snowboarding.  Still, it's beautiful and relaxing.  Whale watching, traveling through the hillsides... if you have a big budget you can take a side trip to the South Pole (very expensive though).
