Hi

I follow these reports about the haka storm.

Anyone can tell me

what's the matter if the haka is performed before the anthem or after it?

I am totally confused :P

Thanks everyone !

  1. The haka is performed (or not) at the invitation/permission of the host team/stadium. I assume there was some misunderstanding.  (For those of you who don't know, the haka is the name of the 'ceremony' that the All Blacks (or any New Zealand sports team) perform before a game.)

  2. what the h**l is the haka?

  3. It was the Welsh being useless/spineless; usually the Haka is performed right before kick-off. Apparently the very first time that Wales played NZ, it was perfomed between the anthems, and last year for the anniversary game (100yrs, I think), the Welsh asked NZ to repeat this. This year they wanted NZ to do the same again for no good reason (except to stop the Welsh players getting scared), and NZ said "right before kick-off or not at all". So the Welsh said "no Haka", and NZ did it for themselves in their dressing room before coming out. Clear?

  4. I dont see a problem with it

    Its tradition.

  5. This whole business is firing up war of words!

The haka is a great rugby tradition, but in every ground all over the world, the home team always has the last say before KO, IE they sing their anthem last! So why should the Nz have it different? They would not like it in their own back yard to be told wot to do! The WRU told NZRU in October that the haka would be preformed in between the two anthems! The AB's then changed their mind on Saturday!

The haka, as a tradition, is a war dance that is meant to be responded to, so if the AB's want to stick to tradition, why the h**l will they not let any team respond to the haka before KO?

  6. It was Wales that refused to let them perform it.

They insisted as the home nation that their national anthem should be played last which meant that there was no time for the haka.

It is a d**n shame and that was proved by the reaction of the crowd when a sad little video of the haka being performed in the dressing room was played at the ground.

Wales should be ashamed of themselves .

  7. The welsh were affraid of it!!!

The haka is the coolest thing in international rugby

  8. because the whole point is you sing the 2 anthems then perform the haka which is unanswered.

the welsh rugby unio tried to tell the all blacks they could do the haka but only if it was then followed by the welsh anthem

terefore the all blacnks refused and did it in private

  9. The Haka was performed inside because the Welsh wanted it to be performed before their national anthem. Personally I think why the h**l not.

Why should teams allow the all blacks to come out onto the pitch and psyche themselves up with the haka while the opposition stand about and watch it. Most of you who are feeling bitter about it just want to see the haka and see it as a part of the entertainment, but it's more than that for both teams. As a Scotsman I think teams should challenge the haka or force it to be done somewhere else or at a different time not right before the kick off.

Yes it's based on tradition and should be respected as that, but why give the All Blacks who are already miles ahead of everyone else the chance to get themselves going before the game.

It's about time they were brought down a peg or two!!!

  10. New zealand believe their symbols and ceremonies of nationhood are frankly a h**l of a lot more important that any other nations on this earth, so no nation has a right to respond. to them..

Even though it is the welsh custom (going back over 130 years) is to sing their anthem last at home, Newzealand decided to show complete contempt for this custom by not compromising a inch...and in performing the haka in private (invited a camerman in mind)came across like a bunch of sorry silly spoilt children in the basement .

I have nothing but contempt for New Zealand actions and insults last week - leading up to the match..

They are also the only nation on earth who have had the world cup actually taken off them, because they simply refuse to compromise off the field about anything.

    Precious Kiwi's.

  11. Teams Have replied to it before, australia once did waltzing matilda.

I, as a kiwl, agree teams should be given an option to reply, or have the haka done in reply, something. But i do not think that they should be able to reply with an anthem.

Teams should man up and either reply to it with something from their own cultural history or stand there watching with respect and admire how much new zealand as a country love rugby.

  12. I heard that they were getting fannied about by the tv and the ref so they held the haka in thier dressing room before going out onto the pitch.

  13. The All Blacks wanted to do it after the national anthems, but the Welsh RFU didn't want it to be done then, so they did it in the changing rooms instead.
