New Zealand sneak past England by five runs: New Zealand in England T20I Series – Cricket news

New Zealand’s batting ripped apart the English bowling as the side piled 201 runs for the loss of just four wickets to give the hosts a run for their money. New Zealand captain, Brendon McCullum’s 68 and Player of the Match Hamish Rutherford’s 62 played
a key role in helping New Zealand put enough runs on the board to secure a daunting victory.

capitalise on this, however, the partnership between Rutherford and McCullum halted the English as the two batsmen forged an intimidating alliance.

Hales and Wright then forged another spectacular partnership as they took the score to 105, before the loss of Hales, who departed with 39 runs to his name. Wright and Morgan then led their side towards 134 before this partnership also met its end on the
wicket of Morgan for seven.
Later, New Zealand struck gold on the wicket of Wright, who fell with 52 runs to his name with his side on 139. The New Zealand bowlers then tightened the screws around their opponents and managed to halt them on 196 for five in 20 overs.
Both teams will now meet in the finale on June 27, at The Oval.
