New Zealand tour to Bangladesh, 2nd ODI abandoned without a ball bowled
The second one-day international of the ongoing five-match ODI series between New Zealand and Bangladesh has been called off without a ball bowled.
The match was scheduled to be played at 9:00 am local time at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today but heavy rain at the venue ruled out the prospects of match and the umpires - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 – declared the
abandonment of the match.
Persistent rain for two days continued to drench the Shere Bangla National Stadium and made the chances of any play highly doubtful. The rain halted at 10:45 am local time and the inspection team was sent to examine the ground conditions.
The team expressed satisfaction on the quality of the drainage system but unfortunately the chances of rain remained high. After discussions, the match was called off at 11:05 am local time.

the same Shere Bangla National stadium, but the prospects of that fixture being played depend on the weather conditions convalescing in Mirpur.
The decision was provoking for all concerned, specifically the tourists, who would have been excited to get back onto the field and make up for their slightly jaded effort in the 1st match. The New Zealand Coach, Mark Greatbatch, was
reported to be talking anxiously with the ground-staff.
In the start it was anticipated that the weather conditions would get better with time and the sides would be able to get a 20 over game at least but the non-stop rain washed away any such hopes. The visiting New Zealand side now finds itself effectively
facing three sudden-death clashes, while the Bengali Tigers are one step closer to a one-day series win against an imposing Test side.
