New Zealand v South Africa: Proteas will play for a win reckons Alviro Petersen – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Petersen-c1028, 31-year-old cricketer from South Africa, has said that the Proteas have one motive for the third Test match against New Zealand and that is to win it.
The right-handed batsman held that South Africans won’t hold back and will go for the kill when the fourth day of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 Test starts on Monday, March 26, 2012.
At stumps of day three, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Guptill-c1980 were at the crease and had 35 and 28 runs to their names
respectively.
Petersen said that it would have been ideal for South Africa, had they picked a few wickets on the day. However, the 31-year-old urged the Proteas to make early inroads the next time they come out to field.
“We would have liked to have picked up some wickets here tonight. We've got to find a way tomorrow. Come here fully focused with the attitude of trying to win a test match. We want to win a test match here, that's the important
thing,” said Petersen.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 already lead the three match Test series 1-0 but despite that they would want to finish off their tour of New Zealand by winning the final Test.
Petersen, who was short of runs in first two games, bounced back at the right time. The opening batsman played the best knock of his Test career; as he went on to score 156 runs. It was the third century of the right-handers career
that propelled South Africa to a massive first innings total.
Petersen was content with the way he had gone on to score big after passing through the difficult phase. He said, “I was under pressure coming into this game because of the standards I set for myself. The Proteas are a high performance
team, we set high standards for ourselves and we want to live up to those standards. I haven't really scored a lot of runs in this series so it was important that I once I got in that I try and score big.”
