New Zealand v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045: Kiwis complete ODI series whitewash – Cricket News Update
New Zealand continued their dominance over the touring Zimbabwean cricket team, as they defeated the visitors by a massive margin of 202 runs to win the third ODI match at McLean Park, Napier and with the win they completed a series whitewash.
Batting first, Kiwis posted a gigantic total of 373 runs for the loss of eight wickets. In reply, the Africans were dismissed for 171 runs with six overs still left to play.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129, led from the front with an innings of 119 runs from 88 deliveries. The belligerent batsman was awarded the Man of the Match award for scoring his fourth ODI ton.
McCullum was delighted to inspire the team to victory in absence of the regular skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849. The wicket-keeper batsman has encouraged young cricketers, who have stepped up at the right time and impressed everyone with their performances. He also
spoke fondly of the old heads in the New Zealand team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Nicol-c2331, who provided the Kiwis with a solid foundation throughout the series.
McCullum said, “It was nice to come in with a few runs on the board. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robin-James-Boyd-Moss-c86323 played outstandingly as they have all series. Some guys have had opportunities they haven't had to play for the country and have put their hands up. The environment we've
got and the belief are really good at the moment.”
The Captain also thanked the fans for showing up in great numbers to support the team. He said, “Thanks to the fans for coming out, we love coming out to play for you and the support since the Hobart Test has been fantastic.”
New Zealand had already won the ODI series coming into the last match at Napier. Any hopes that the Zimbabweans had of salvaging a win were dashed when Kiwi openers, Martin and Rob put on an opening partnership of 153 runs. This set the tune for the 373
runs total, and the Kiwis were in complete control after that.
All the Zimbabwean bowlers went for plenty of runs but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Vitori-c1198 had a night to forget. The 21-year-old saw the bitter side of playing against a top quality side. The medium pacer conceded 105 runs from his nine overs while claiming a solitary wicket.
