New Zealand v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045: Ross Taylor ruled out of series due to calf injury – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849, was ruled out of the remainder of the series against Zimbabwe due to a calf injury. The belligerent batsman helped the Kiwis to post a first innings total of 495 before being
forced out of the field.
The middle-order batsman picked up the injury, on day-two of the one-off Test match against the touring African side in McLean Park, Napier, while attempting a single of Shingi Masakadza’s bowling in the 100th over.
Taylor suffered the injury while attempting a single. His face showed the pain, and the Kiwi’s physio, Paul Close rushed to the wicket to address the problem. The batsman was clearly in pain, and as a result had to retire hurt while batting on 122.
After detailed inspection of the injury, it was revealed that the batsman will be out of action for about three to four weeks, meaning that the batsman will also be sidelined from the Test series against South Africa. If the rehabilitation process goes according
to plan, Taylor will be making his return for the One-Day series against the Proteas starting from Saturday, February 25, 2012.
A source close to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 confirmed that he will not be available for the Test series against South Africa. He said, “While it is early days, our target is to have Ross available for the one-day series against South Africa in late February.”
Neil and Anne Taylor, the parents of Ross Taylor were also in the stands to watch their son bat. Instead they had to witness their son being carried off the field.
Like all good fathers, Neil hoped that the injury sustained by his son is not of a serious nature and prayed for his speedy recovery. Neil said, “I come [to Napier] every time he plays. I love coming up here. I hope to be up here for the one-dayer, I hope
it's not too bad. They'll just have to rest him for the one-dayer if it's bad.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 will lead the side in the absence of Taylor. It is a big loss for New Zealand before an important series against South Africa.
