New Zealand wing Cory Jane is out for England Test
New Zealand will face England without Cory Jane after the winger picked up a rib injury in the Bledisloe Cup match with Australia on Saturday, 30 October.
The All Blacks are due to take on England at Twickenham on Saturday, 6 November, but the New Zealand management has admitted that Jane will not take part in the match. According to assistant coach Wayne Smith, Jane will "...need a week to recover."
Scans showed that Jane had suffered heavy bruising to the chest wall in the 26-24 defeat to Australia.
But the player is expected to be fit for the following matches on the November tour against Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Hosea Gear or Isaia Toeava are expected to take Jane’s place for the match against England.
Smith remained non-committal on whether new rugby league convert Sonny Bill Williams would earn his first cap.
The centre has been in impressive form for Canterbury this season and he is expected to feature at some point during the match.
"As soon as he is comfortable with that, then he should be on the field. I don't think he is too far away from being more comfortable. We will just wait and see," said Smith.
Williams admitted that he is still learning his role as an All Black.
"I don't consider myself an All Black until I've played a game, so I'm definitely itching to get out there, but if it's not this week I'll just be doing what I did last week, head down and trying to learn as much as I can.
"There's been a lot of information to take in, but so far I'm happy with the way I'm going and if I get that chance I'll have to try and make it count," added the uncapped New Zealander.
The All Blacks will be keen to prove that their defeat to Australia was just a one off poor performance.
