New Zealanders finding tough to get the PGA Tour card for 2013
New Zealand is not known for golf but Danny Lee and Tim Wilkinson are trying to make the Kiwis proud with their efforts on the PGA Tour.
Danny has the experience of playing on the PGA Tour but he has not been regular. Meanwhile, Tim Wilkinson plays on the lower grade circuits in USA.
Currently, the number one New Zealander, Lee and Tim are busy playing on the Web.com Tour. Both of them are trying to make it to the 2013 PGA Tour but for that, they need to earn some considerable amount of money.
Lee is currently 169th on the money tour list and needs to climb inside the top-125 to qualify for the 2013 PGA Tour.
This is not an easy task, considering the fact that only three weeks are left in the Web.com Tour to wrap up.
Most recently, Danny missed the cut at Shriners Hospital for Children. Consistency has been a huge problem for the number one Kiwi.
Among the 23 events that he played on the PGA Tour, he only managed to make the cut in 11. More importantly, out of those eleven, his best finish was T19 at Bryon Nelson Championship.
Danny has now three weeks to shine and earn enough money, which will force him inside the top 125.
Being the flag carrier for the Kiwis, it is no easy job to play under immense pressure. However, he must remain steady even under pressure, to get the PGA Tour card for 2013.
On the other hand, Tim Wilkinson has an outside chance for qualification. He does not play on the PGA Tour, but even his Web.com tour stats are not very impressive.
Currently, he ranks 53rd in the money earned list and only the top-25 will get the cards for the next season.
He too, like Danny, must perform extremely well on the three fall series events if he has any plans of playing on the PGA Tour next season.
Lee must play within his limitations, he should not try to overdo stuff. Otherwise, he could land in some trouble. Danny must play his normal game and hope for the best.
