New Zealand’s Worser Bay Boating Club to host Laser Nationals in 2012 – Boating News
Hopeful sailors would be making their way to New Zealand next year. They would be taking part in the  2012 New Zealand Laser Nationals which are scheduled to take place in Wellington from January 21 to 24, 2012. According to reports,
Worser Bay Boating Club of New Zealand will be hosting this tournament.
Over the years, The New Zealand Laser Championships has turned out to be a premier boating event in New Zealand. It is also the country’s largest event where dinghy regattas take part in various races. The term dinghy regattas,
refers to an event where small boats take part in a racing event.
No other club in New Zealand holds an event with such magnitude. Until now it has been confirmed by the management of the tournament that the best sailors in the Laser and Laser Radical sailing division will be heading to New Zealand
in 2012. For the 2012 event, it is expected that nearly 150 to 200 sailors would be competing in the New Zealand Laser Nationals.  
Various sailing tournaments have been organized by the Worser Bay Boating Club in the past. The club has established a credible reputation in the world of sailing and among sailors who have always looked at the club as an institution
working towards the promotion of sailing in New Zealand. The club has been successful in providing a platform for sailors to further polish their sailing skills by observing one of the best sailors who compete in the event.
According to reports coming in regarding the tournament, it is also noted that New Zealand sailors who have won Olympic gold medals will also be taking part in the event. According to some news, Great Britain’s Paul Goodison, the
Olympic gold medallist in 2008 will also be taking part in the event in 2012. Australian Tom Slingsby, the sailor with the status of winning the world championship thrice in his career and also winning the 2010 World Sailor of the year award will be making
his way to Wellington to take part in the Laser Nationals.
The event organizers and the Worser Bay Boating Club are excited for the Laser Nationals. They believe that this event is a great opportunity for young and enthusiastic sailors from New Zealand and abroad to showcase their skills.
It is also an event where these young contenders compete against the best sailors in the world and from New Zealand.
