New apartment, need help decorating?

My fiance and I just moved into a new apartment. It's a really nice cozy place...it comes fully furnished, problem is.....everything must stay. Unfortunately, we chose a place that is owned by a flamboyant guy who like floral patterns (and not the good kind!). Since we can't take anything out of the apartment, I am going to redecorate with what I have. I need ideas such as slip covers for the couch, and a pink chair in the bedroom.

Here's my decorating ideas:

Living Room - african theme (no animal prints)

Kitchen - paris theme (eifffel tower and bistro types)

Bedroom - mediterranean (greece and italy)

  1. its kind of hard to give the ideas without seeing your furniture - but may I suggest checking out Marshall's, Ross, or TJ Max - they have all the great trends for decorating - fraction of the cost.  Another choice is a Flea Market, you would be surprised of the wood items they have for the "african theme".  Good Luck and Happy Decorating!

  2. Here's some suggestions for the kitchen:

I'm not sure what the furnishings are like in the bedroom but a nice way to introduce a mediterranean them is to have all white walls with a feature wall in blue. Pink accents such as the chair you mentioned would work well with that theme.

I feel your pain, my partner and I also rent (although luckily unfurnished so we have been able to put our own stamp on it a bit).

Our bathroom has a horrid green suite - I've done my best to work around it!

  3. If the appartment is fully furnished can you paint it ? If you have furniture of your own, can the landloard put the existing one away in a storage ?
