New aquarium with cloudy greenish water and strong ammonia smell. please help

Question

I have a ten gallon tank i got about two weeks ago.

I have:

2 white skirted tetras

1 black skirted tetra

5 black phantom tetras

3 gold barbs

2 cherry barbs

I did the 20 percent water change, and after i did that the water turned greenish and became cloudy, it also has a really strong smell of ammonia. i was wondering if this was normal? and if its not, how can i fix it? also, do i have too many fish?

well

you have to many fish and all those fish need to school i groups of 6+

also if you got it 2 weeks ago it obviously hasent cycled
