  1. *buy knee pads

nd in tryouts try ur best nd u'll be fine slidding is fun, um theres spiking, *overhand serve depending on grade, underhand serve depends on grade, when hitting step into it!!!!

  2. well in highschool u need to know how to pass and serve to make the team most of the time. u should also know how to hit the ball, if u r good at setting thats always good, but usally the team only has 2 setters so not everyone needs to know how to set!

  3. Whether you can make a volleyball team with no team experience is dependant on how good the program is at your school. I made my jv highschool team freshman year with no experience, but I was pretty tall and athletic. If you have summer to prepare I would email the coach and find out what they suggest. Some schools even have a summer program or a summer clinic to get people ready for tryouts. If not see if there are any local volleyball camps. It is better to learn from a club volleyball coach or the coach you will be playng for since alot of leagues may not teach you the true fundamentals of volleyball. But once again it all depends on your school. Volleyball is a great sport.

  4. If you have never played before, I would recommend that you try local YMCA or USYVL.org, before trying out at your school.

My boy started at USYVL, and I loved their soft volleyball that would never hurt anyone's finger.

  5. well first stay calm if ur nervous they'll be able to tell. 2nd practice b4 hand so that u know what ur doing. And just enjoy it. Also try ur best

  6. yes its very fun to play on team i all most made the the team and its fun go for it

  7. You need to get use to the standard dig, set and spike techniques used all the time - have someone show them to you, is the best way. And use any other technique for wayward balls (which come to you at odd angles) - usually an arm or closed fist.

An excellent volleyball for beginners is Mikasa's VUL500 Training Series - set the air pressure so that you can press your thumbs 1/8th inch into it - that way it's just the right softness.  It is very light and is a fun indoor volleyball to use.

Purchase a cheap practice volleyball for outside practice (this ball can be used on hard surfaces without worry).

Practice spiking a ball against the wall - throw it up like a set, then jump and spike it. It takes a lot of practice to use to automatic spiking at any good set.

You can practice ball handling skills with friends - anywhere with a practice ball, no net required. You can dig, set and spike at each other. With lots of practice, you can only get better and better - while having fun.
