New bike brake help?

I bought a good sturdy bike but when i go to peddle back it goes into a brake. is there any way of disabling that brake.

P.S i looked in the manual so dont say to look in it.

  1. The only way to safely get rid of this brake is to buy a new hub or wheel without the coaster brake.  If you try to disable this brake you may still not be able to back pedal.  The bike may also become unpredictable.  There is a slim chance the brake could engage with little or no input from you.  your best bet is to buy a freewheel hub.


  2. Sounds like you have a "coaster brake" there is no way to disable it.

  3. what do you want to back pedal for? you can,t ride in reverse.
