I know the SCAR is being developed for SOCOM, but a few years ago i read an article saying Delta and other top units in SOCOM will be fielding the hk416 instead of the SCAR (http://www.hkpro.com/hk416.htm ...scroll down to the middle of the page, pay attention to the second to last paragraph in the white section). I was wondering a) if this still hols true or if they switched and are going with the SCAR (i havent found any info on it since the article in the link) and b), when does the hk417 come out? Also, anyone know if any of our SOF units will be fielding the LWRC PSD or SABR? It sounds like they were developed specifically for our SOF (like the SCAR), but i havent sound anything saying our guys are using them. I know i just tossed out a bunch of questions, but any info on any of them is much appreciated. Thanks.

  1. hk416 was taken away from the U.S.Army.  Dont know why but delta cant even use em.  From my resources the whole "New Breed Of Socom Assault rifles"  is over.  SOF in the Army will use what they deem practical for the mission at hand.  In afghanistan and Iraq most Army SOF use.  M4's,M14's SR-25's.  FN is starting to manufacture Civlian SCAR-L AND SCAR-H.  In my eyes that means that They didnt make enough money on a military contract.  So they take the military models extend the barrel and make em semi only.

    Hopw this helped

  2. you can bet that gung ho spec. forces are trying anything that will give

them an "edge".  may the best design win.   some like it hot others like it a bit cooler.   rate of fire to knockdown   it's all give and take.   me, i like the old ma duece, in any situation.  if i have to shoot, i'm thrashing.
