Question:

New car with over 600 miles??? Is that normal? Demo?

I put down a deposit on a chevy cobalt today. After I put the deposit down (it was a dealer trade..i'm not sure how far it is coming from) the salesperson said that it will have 600-700 miles on it. This sounds like too many miles to me. He did also say that the warranty would be extended to exclude those miles. I have been reading some other answers and they say that sometimes that mileage can be found on a demo car. What is a demo car? The salesman said that the car was never titled before. I just have my doubts. I almost want to back out of the deal, eventhough I've got a really good price. Any opinions please???

  1. So, you are buying a car sight unseen?  Is that right?  That is a bad idea.

  2. if you have your doubts... trust your gut

here is a point to ponder.... have you ever recalled a time in your life that it was not " the best time ever" to buy a car????

  3. A Demo Car is a car used by the Dealer for People's Test Drives. It really does no harm buying one of these. My Cousin Bought a 2008 Toyota Matrix Demo with 1,400 Miles and it is fine. She managed to get around $4,000 off the price too. If I were you, I would go for it, but I would ask for a Carfax History Report, Kelley Blue Book Value, and Some More Money Off. What can it hurt?

    Good Luck
