  1. When my cat died he was 8, I had to get another cat. My house was so empty with out him. So I got PT

<--and I tell you what it was the best thing i could have done for myself. You know your boyfriend best, could he handle a new cat? If not maybe you could make a donation to a local shelter in honor of his late cat. I hope it all works out okay...

  2. You know your boyfriend best, but when my cat died I was asked if I wanted the good news or the bad news...

Bad news was my young kitty had passed and good news was a fluffy black kitten which I called Poppy.

It made it easier for me to get over my first kitty, because I almost felt that a part of her was inside my new kitty.

Good luck, and sorry about your boyfriend's loss.

  3. i would take him to a shelter and let him play with the cats.

tell him you want to do it for him to make him feel better.

if one picks him, like they always do, i am sure he will adopt it.

    problem solved.

i am not a fan of surprising people with kittens, the kitten might not like him.

if he resists, be sure to tell him it is not for him, it is for the kittens that are lonely and need a home.

and, if possible, you should get him two kittens, siblings that like each other are best. they comfort and amuse each other.

  4. find out what his favorite color is if you can get a cat that color get it if not the closest color to it and make it resemble his old cat

  5. It's always sad to lose a pet, especially one you have grown up with.

But surprising someone with a new animal to replace the one who has passed, isn't such a good idea. People need to be able to grieve and mourn loss. And a new animal will never replace the one who was lost.

Give him some time, and when he feels ready, the two of you can go to the humane society or local shelter and adopt a new kitty together. But give him some time to heal and deal with the loss of his childhood friend.

Just be there for him and love him. Find some pictures of his cat from over the years and make him a photo collage with the pictures and give it to him as a memorial to his friend. It's a much better gift than surprising him with a new pet.

Best wishes and blessings to both of you

  6. my cats 11 and ive had her since i was just like 4 and she was 4 months. i would say wait, let him do it on his own time =]
