New circuit for Indian Grand Prix named Buddh International Circuit – Formula 1 news
Organisers of the Indian Grand Prix have revealed that the circuit which is going to host the first-ever Formula 1 race in India, will be called the Buddh International Circuit.
The race is expected to take place by the end of October 2011.
The new circuit has been named after the Gautam Buddh Nagar district where the track is located. It is almost 25 miles outside of New Delhi in Greater Noida. The new name was revealed when the organisers unveiled the logo of the circuit. During the ceremony,
chairman of the Jaypee Sports International Manoj Gaur, who is one of the organizers of the Indian Grand Prix, stated that everything is in place for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
“Be assured my friends. Our and [our] country's reputation is there. We are responsible people. The track is ready and the homologation of the facility will be done in July as per the time-table of the FIA,” Manoj told the media.
On the other hand, Samir Gaur, the managing director of Jaypee Sports International stated that the tickets are going to be on sale on a reasonable and affordable price for the audience in order to attract as many people as they can for the race.
“We can't disclose the pricing but it would be moderate. It is in the final stages and it will start from Rs 2500 [US$ 56] onwards. We have tied up with the bookmyshow.com for the ticketing,” stated Samir.
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has introduced some new rules for the 2011 Formula 1 season. Since the introduction of these new regulations, the sport is becoming more entertaining as the overtaking rate has increased as compared to the 2010
statistics. Organisers of the Indian Grand Prix are hoping to make Formula 1 even better.
The next Formula 1 race is expected to take place in two weeks time in Turkey which is going to be the first European race of the ongoing season.
