New clothes...? Washing...help.

Question

I just purchased some brand new clothes from various stores. I was wondering, you know how things usually shrink...well should I wash them (especially the pants/jeans) before I wear them to ensure they fit like they should and don't fall off on the first day of wearing them.

What is your suggestions when it comes to getting new clothes and washing them.

I also normally wash EVERYTHING inside out and use OxyClean detergent enhancer with some other kind of powdered detergent. Any suggestions?

Wash all the new clothes by them selfs the first time.

Use cold water.

Stay away from laundry detergent to prevent fading.

Most clothes don't shrink if you are washing them according to instructions on the clothes.  If the clothes fit you when you tried them on they should fit you when you bring them home and /or wash them appropriately. Most clothes do not have to be washed inside out unless their tag tells you to.  And all clothes do not have to be washed after you buy them in order to fit.  They should fit when you try them on.

wash in cold water unless the tag specifically states other wise

i toss shirts in the dryer only long enough to get the damp out then i hang them to dry. sweaters and heavy things i lay flat to dry
