New digital camera VS iPhone?

I recently lost a very expensive camera!!! (ARGH!)

During the next weeks, I'm going to different places with friends, and I NEED a digital camera. However, I also like/want the iPhone. Does this phone have a good camera? SO, which do you think is better: Digital camera, or iPhone?

Camera without any doubt!

Save for toy and keychain cameras - just about any camera on the market today will beat that in iPhone hands down in quality.

In all honesty - I've never held iPhone in my hands, nor seen the technical characteristics of embedded camera. But just from the size of it I can tell you without a doubt - it is impossible to house any decent optics in such tight quarters, nor a good size sensor. That's simple physics. And without decent optics and good size sensor (no matter how well it's made), you're out of luck in the quality department...

So any $100-150 digital camera is a much better and cheaper buy than iPhone....
