New energy saving device for gas heating in buildings?

Is there any new energy saving devices or targets on carbon reductions that may affect builders to make new houses more energy efficient, and is there anything that influcentces builders to make houses more energy efficient

The government also initiated the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive which ensures all new buildings are in line with a certain standard in regards to energy efficiency and carbon emissions. This was meant to come into effect in 2006 but it has been put back and should come into effect this year.

Houses are basically made of plastic now, so until they figure out a different main element than no!

The only efficient house is one that can be "composted" with all the elements lending some benefit to their surroundings.
