Question:

New engine for acura integra?

I absolutely know nothing about cars and i was planning on buying a 93 acura integra with 180000+ miles on it. Im going to get it checked out by a mechanic before i buy it, but i dont really trust the last owner and dont think its going to be in good shape. So i was wondering, would buying a new engine/transmission etc in a good package deal make the car like new? Because im buying the car for 1800, i have a couple more thousand to buy a different engine. So i was thinking of something along the lines of an H22 engine or a k20 or just another b18 series engine/transmisson. Something like

Would that engine fit in the car? And would it be worth it? And if i did do it, would it still have the power and speed of its old engine and around the same gas mileage? Thanks for all the help!

  1. If your not a rich kid that wants a toy to play with then forget this car..... It is not worth it.... If this will be a daily driver then please dont waste your time and effort....... On the other hand if its a project or will be your weekend tuner car then maybe..... Heres my golden rule about this stuff.... If the body is perfect or near perfect with no rust or dents, damaged bumper covers or broken windshield then an engine swap may be worth it.... If the body is bad then you will be throwing good money away.......   I went thru the street tuner car phase and built 3 integras.... Yeah it was fun -- I used up a lot of cash and it was over-rated in the end.........  Find a car with excellent mechanics and just do a custom paint job.... Maybe lower it a little bit and put some beats in it.... Forget the under then engine stuff -- You still wont outrun a Mustang and will look dopey trying.....
