I just bought a new ten gallon tank. Its freshwater and I am growing two live plants in it. Any advice? And any fish you would recommend? Thanks!

  1. 6 tetras but no more than that air pump/filter etc no sharks and no mollie there wont be enough space for all them fish

  2. Your tanks too small for the sharks.  Stick with a nice school of the tetras and maybe add 3 cories to patrol the bottom for you.

    Edit:

Nope, no gouramis, not even the dwarves.  They need more space than your 10 gallon will provide.

    Double Edit:

All the species you've mentioned are tropical fish and require a heated tank.

  3. The very best advice I can give you is to buy an inexpensive introductory book.  I've been keeping fish since the 1950's and still refer to my books on a frequent basis.

  4. in ten gallons just get a school of 6 under 2 inch schooling fish

  5. Do NOT put bala sharks in there they get very big and need a larger tank

Put a school of neon tetras and a dwarf gourami

or a school of tetras and 2 platys
