Well, this is a 3 month old 10g tank. I lost 3 fish in the beginning. So I let it run another month. Finally the levels were good. I just added 2 fish a week ago. One evidently was pregnant. I know have 8 fry in a net. I woke up this morning and to some water on the carpet. It is slowly dripping from the bottom some where. I obviously can not lift it up to see anything. What should I do? get a new tank? try to seal it? How would I do any of that? Ect....? Thanks...

  1. Your best bet is going to be to get another tank, get the fish, water, filter, substrate, etc into the new tank (and hopefully do so in a manner to prevent the filter media from drying out so that you don't have to re-start your cycle).

A simple siphon from one tank to the other will probably be the best method. Get about half the water in, move the substrate, filter, heater decor, etc. Net the fish in, fill the rest with new water (dechlorinated) and then empty the old one the rest of the way. Then you can figure out where the leak is coming from.

If it's just an improper seal, you can re-seal it - talk to the pet store experts to help you do so properly. If you have a receipt, you may even be able to return it as faulty equipment.

    Good luck.

  2. I know some stores have a return policy up to 90 days. I don't know where you bought your fish tank but you should check to see what is the return policy. That's only if you still have the receipt. I would be afraid to use some kind of glue or putty to seal the crack due to chemical contact in the water. You may have to buy another tank but I suggest at a different store where you know their return policy and if possible some kind of warranty. I hope this helped!
