In the middle of July, I had a bridal shower and recieved the new flatware (16 place settings/ 4 per box)I registered for from Target. So I have been using it for about a month now and I have discovered that some of the pieces are rusting!!! They are supposed to be stainless steel. I am really upset by this! Anyways, I don't have the gift reciepts (I might be able to get the original thoug) or the original packaging. Do you think they will take them back?? Has anyone else had any problems with Target Brand flatware rusting?

  1. take em back and raise some h**l!

  2. No, I never had flatware rust, but since I live in FL, I know that it does rust sometimes.

Perhaps it was in a warehouse a long time.

Anyway, that set should go back to Target right now.  They need to credit your account.

If they say no can do, tell them about Yahoo Answers!

  3. They should take them back if you go in and explain. If they refuse ask for a manager, and if they refuse go on their website and make a complaint. A big company like Target will want to make you happy. They should at a minimum exchange them for you.

  4. I haven't but I say you take them back.

  5. Because it's only been about a month, I would think they would give you, at the very least, store credit to purchase different flatware or something else. If the store doesn't let you, call corporate headquarters. Whenever I've dealt with corporate, they're always 100 percent more helpful than the actual store and I usually get my way.

I've taken items I've purchased from target back without a box or a receipt, I would get store credit at the item's current selling price, so I don't think you'll have any problems.

    Hope that helps!

  6. Target is insane about returns. You normally have to have a receipt. When I got married a couple of years ago, a registry could be your receipt up to 3 months before & after the event. So if your registry has your wedding date, and it's not for 5 months, they might not be too willing to take them - especially with the lack of packaging.

I would call your local store and ask about this. If they're not helpful, try to contact the manufacturer for resolution. At minimum put a review of your experience on Target.com!  I love that they offer that feature.

  7. Take it back ... they might be able to check the registry for the purpose, and in any case will know that they carried that flatware.

They should be good about the return.

  8. I have had the same problem but I did read the instructions with the packaging. I found a great set (Oneida brand) that I loved and registered for. They are stainless steel as well but it clearly states in the care and instructions that it is still possible for them to rust if they are not dried immediately. So just a few days after using them they have rust spots (very small ones) here and there, because I just use the dishwasher and don't bother drying them. The dishwasher gets them pretty dry but sometimes that little water spot that just sits too long will rust.

My shower was mid July as well and while at first I was hand drying them I got tired of it with so much to do already.

Anyway while reading the care and instructions they do have something that will remove the rust.

These may help to clean the rust. The second link seems best.

  9. Return it. They have to take it back, and also they need to know how poor quality the flatware is.

  10. I got some flatware from Target at my wedding and it's been great, how bizarre that this is happening to you.  Just take it back to your Target store...they probably won't refund you cash without the receipt, but they'll give you a store credit.  Target only lets you return 2 things per year without a receipt (they track it by your driver's license), so if you've exceeded that you might want to enlist a friend to return it for you and then give you the gift card.

  11. Target has an extremely strict return police. If I were you I would call your target and ask. Make sure you get a name.
