New fuel pump and filter replaced on 89 Jeep Wrangler,but it still won't start?

I just bought a 89 jeep wrangler and was told it needed a fuel pump, filter had just been replaced. The jeep still wont' start! If you dump gas in carb. it will run for a short while(till that gas runs out) I am getting gas out of the pump and out of the filter. Any ideas or suggestions?

yea all the time sitting before it was sold the carb is probally full of dry gas(like powder)

and can cause lots of blockage

It sounds like the carb is clogged. It might be time for a rebuild.
