  1. Teflon tape for gas fittings is colored yellow.

  2. Proper tape is fine...Both products insure a seal and a method to which the threads won t bond  and you ll be able to take apart years from now should you need to.. If its a leak your worried about just ask to have them put some soap(dish soap works well) around the threads after it s all connected and gas turned back on just to see if any bubbles appear.. That ll give you some peace of mind if thats your worry  GL

  3. Yes the technique is good, Just get the correct Teflon tape.(yellow)

If you do not feel comfortable with this method, you can still use pipe dope. I have seem many plumbers still using it.

  4. it is a acceptable practice for most all around contractors. pipe dope is used for liquid plumbing installations (water). pipe dope and teflon tape are both fillers for threading that you find on most plumbing installs. and yes gas install, still fall under plumbing....and as mention, yellow teflon tape is for gas installations and white is for mostly for water. faucets, etc....  hope this helps

  5. Yes it will be fine.
