I bought a new pair of glasses yesterday and the shop told me it would be over a week before they were ready? the last time i bought glasses it only took three hours, could it be the type of frames?

Last time they were like this:

this time they are like this, you know plastic instead of metal:

Why will it take so long?

  1. It's not the frames, it's where you got them.  Places like LensCrafters have a lab onsite and make your glasses there.  Most other eye doctors have their glasses made somewhere else.  It's completely normal to wait a week or 2 for glasses, you just didn't have to last time.

  2. I've been wearing glasses for nearly 30 years and have always had to wait at least a week (I'm in the UK).  A few weeks ago I had to wait a fortnight for a new pair of varifocals.  However I also asked them to put new single vision lenses into my old frames (because I still like the look of them) and this only took three days.
