New hard drive, getting PXE-E61 media test...

hello, i have a gateway 6518GZ notebook. i am attempting to reinstall windows xp onto a new hard drive that i bought off of ebay. i get...PXE-E61: media test failure, check cablePXE-MOF: exiting broadcom PXE ROMOperating system not foundi was under the impression that i would just be able to put the hard drive in and reinstall windows but it isnt happening that way?can anyone help me?in really easy instructions? i know a little but not a ton...thank you.
