I bought a Vizio LCD 46" 1080P TV a while ago.....

I have a PS3 that I use for blu ray and gaming ...

Everything is new except my 5.1 Kenwood receiver. Untill I bought the new TV all of my componets ran into my computer and then to the receiver/TV.

My new TV has rca out, but I have not been succesfull connecting the PS3 to the TV via HDMI and out to the receiver with RCA outputs, any suggestions?

  1. What I would do is connect the PS3 to your TV using a HDMI cable for video as you've done already, then connect your PS3 to your receiver using an optical audio cable for sound.

This way, you'll actually get sound going to  both the TV's speakers and your receiver which gives you a bit more flexibility.  (say...late at night, and your neighbors don't want to feel the walls vibrating as you're shooting aliens....)

When you do get a new receiver, make sure it has a 1080p pass-thru for video.  Then you can just connect everything to your receiver, run one HDMI cable to your TV, and use your receiver to switch between devices.

  2. you have to make a rca cable loop back into your tv

    back into your receiver

eazy fix takes about 2 mins

out of the receiver and in on the tv

hit your line 1 or 2

  3. i have my ps3 hooked through an optical to my surround sound. even if you can get the tv to output through the RCAs the sound will be bad. spend the $15 and go with the optical.
