New house!?

My man and I are starting a family, we have one due in February and are now moving out of our over-priced cracker box into a beautiful 4 bedroom house out in the country. Well, we only need the bottom of the house, so we will be closing off the top story until the time comes for it. Do any of you husbands and wives have any good money saving tips for our utilities or household purchases all around?

See if you can get on a budget plan with the utility company. You will pay the same rate for 6-11 months and then the company analyzes your usage and gives you a rate based on that.  Purchase groceries based on what is on sale that week and build meals aroung them. Combine all your trips to save on gas.  You dont say if you are buying or renting the house but if you own it, check all the areas for energy waste - such as caulk, windows, insulation.
